[Events and Mindfulness Retreats Opening in 2027]
Dear beloved friends near and far!
These days, the Trời Phương Ngoại Meditation Hall is slowly taking shape. With support from the Sangha everywhere, each person contributes a brick or a bag of cement. Our Meditation Hall will be a place to return to, and a place where we can work together to make life and people more beautiful.
“Trời Phương Ngoại” is the term Thầy Thich Nhat Hanh used to translate Nê Hoàn, or Nirvana. In the Dhammapada of the Chinese canon, the chapter on Nirvana is the 36th, with 36 verses. Thầy taught this chapter and named it The Dhammapada: Roaming in the Realm Beyond the Skies. The sixth verse reads:
Deer rest in the wilderness,
birds rest in the open sky.
Things manifest by relying on distinctions,
and true persons rest in Nirvana, living at ease.
Returning to be present in the here and now, and touching life with every step, is the practice of Plum Village. Nirvana is a very close address: the path from the office to the lawn and on to the parking area, or the family meal before everyone says goodbye and heads to work in the morning. Nirvana transcends space and time. Trời Phương Ngoại means the here and now, which we can touch whenever we practice conscious breathing and conscious walking. Registering for a mindfulness retreat helps us light up and sustain that clear awareness.
The monastic brothers and sisters of Thai Plum Village International Practice Center respectfully announce the 2027 schedule of practice activities. It includes special events and retreats now open for registration. There will be programs at the Monastery and programs outside it. We kindly invite you to save this information and pass it on to your friends and family. The monastic brothers and sisters look forward to practicing with retreatants from around the world. Each time we meet is a chance to water one another with the seeds of understanding and love. Our practice is the practice of love and understanding.
We wish everyone near and far much joy in caring for yourselves and taking refuge in the Sangha everywhere!
With love and trust,
Monastic Brothers and Sisters
Thai Plum Village International Practice Center
