New Year New Me International Holiday Retreat 2025

Dear beloved friends around the world!

‘New Year New Me’ is the title of this year’s international Holiday Retreat, one of the annual retreats that host a larger number of retreatants at Thai Plum Village. The retreat will be the time and place that friends all around the world come and see each other. On the occasion of the new year 2014, our Teacher Thay offered us the pair of parallel verses that say:

‘Năm mới ta cũng mới / Người vui cảnh sẽ vui’

‘New year new me / Joy within joy all around’

Every time coming to the Monastery to practice with the monastic and lay brothers and sisters who have similar wishes in building a bright beautiful life, we benefit from the positive collective energy of the Sangha. ‘The Sangha is a beautiful community that walks together on the joyful path’. That a diligent community of practice is able to radiate such youthful beauty comes from its members and the shared practices that everyone enjoys. That path is joyful because the more we walk on it, the newer we become. The practice of mindfulness while walking, or walking meditation, is one key to open the door of joy and happiness for ourselves as well as our family and community.
