Laying the Foundation Stone

Dear Friends

As the sufficient conditions manifested in 2023, initiated the construction of our new Meditation Hall. It will also be The Dharma Teaching Hall. The intention and purpose is to support and disseminate the profound Dharma and to be a place where the practice of the Fourfold Sangha is effectively fostered.

On Sunday, February 12th, 2023, The Fourfold Sangha peacefully joined the practice of sitting meditation, walking meditation, and then the 10-year anniversary ceremony followed by the foundation stone laying ceremony for the construction of the new meditation hall. 

We were honored to welcome the Venerable Monks and Nuns coming from Viet Nam, Venerables representing the Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University (MCU), as well as venerables in the area who offered their witness and support for the ceremonies. Furthermore, the respect and love of our dearest lay friends has been the source of motivation for the Sangha to continue on our path.

We remembered during that time, Sr. Chân Không was there attending the ceremony. Please take a look at the picture. She was giving a short speech during the ceremony. From left to right, Br. Pháp Anh (The Abbot of Thai Plum Village Monastery), Br. Pháp Niệm, Sr. Phát Nghiêm (Attendant of Sr. Chân Không), Sr. Chân Không, Sr. Linh Nghiêm, Br. Trí Độ (holding parasol).

The foundation stone laying ceremony is a Thai tradition that signals the beginning of construction. The ceremony included the chanting, offering of blessing water and flower garlands to show great respect to our land ancestors. This act symbolizes our deep gratitude to the mother earth, our blood  ancestors and spiritual ancestors,  to invite them to be our witness and look upon us with compassion as we build this place of refuge.
