On 11 December 2022, Sister Chan Khong received an honorary Ph.D. in Social Work from Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University in Thailand.

This is the text of citation read on the occasion of the conferment of an Honorary Doctorate Degree in int Social Work, at the convocation ceremony held at the 48" Birthday of the Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkor Conference Hall, Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, Ayutthaya Province, Thailand.

The Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University Council, at its meeting No. 2/2565 on 23 February, BE 2565 (CE 2022) had unanimously resolved that:

Ven. Bhikkhuni Chân Không is 84 years of age, was born Cao Ngọc Phuong on 9th Sep, 1938 in Bến Tre French Indochina in the center of the Mekong Delta. From 1969 to 1972 she worked with the Most Venerable Thich Nhat Hanh in Paris organizing the Buddhist Peace Delegation which campaigned for peace in Vietnam She then worked with the Most Venerable Thich Nhat Hanh to establish the first the Sweet Potato community near Paris, then Plum Village Monastery in 1982. She accompanied and assisted the Most Venerable Thich Nhat Hanh when he traveled. In addition, she has organized relief work for those in need in Vietnam, by coordinating relief food parcels for poor children and medicine for the sick, and has helped organize activities at Plum Village.

She was ordained as a nun by the Most Venerable Thich Nhat Hanh in 1988 on Vultures Peak, in India During the three-month return to Vietnam (January to early April, 2005), the Most Venerable Thich Nhat Hanh spoke to thousands of people throughout the country - bureaucrats, politicians, intellectuals, street vendors, taxi drivers, artists. In addition to the Most Venerable Thich Thich Nhat Hanh's Dharma talks, she also taught and conducted additional mindfulness practices. She led the crowds in singing Plum Village songs, chanting, and leading "total relaxation" sessions. Other times, it was her simple application of Vietnamese heritage to modern ways of life that appealed to the people they met. During Tết (Vietnamese new year) celebrations in February, she performed an "oracle reading" for hundreds of Buddhist followers.

She has preserved and contributed the promotion of women status within Vietnam at the national level, promotion of women's health and social status. She is appointed as learning true love (2007), beginning anew: four steps to restoring communication (2014), and deep relaxation: coming home to your body (2013).

She keeps her strict discipline and upright conduct and practices kindness, compassion, generosity and Post righteousness toward all sentient beings all over the world. For the time being, she serves Plum Village Monastery (Lang Mai), France.

Through her meritorious deeds and academic excellence mentioned above, she is regarded as the Buddhist person who offers happiness, welfare and benefits to her country and the entire world. She also deserves the kind of praise and honor. Accordingly, Mahachulalongkomrajavidyalaya University Council has unanimous resolution to confer on her an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Social Work.
