Generosity in Support the Construction of Meditation Hall Thai Plum VIllage International Practice Center

Dear beloved friends,

The Plum Village International Meditation Centre in Thailand was officially established on March 01, 2013. Now, it has been thirteen years since its founding. While that may not seem like a long time, it is enough to mark the significant growth of a young Sangha nurtured by our teacher, Thay. From its humble beginnings on rocky, barren land, the sangha was established to carry on the aspiration to bring Buddhism into everyday life, offering love and a practice environment to people from all walks of life.

Dear friends, over the past thirteen years, Thai Plum Village has continually grown and expanded, from the scale of its organisation to the number of retreats held and the increasing number of practitioners joining the practice, with many retreats gathering up to hundreds of people. To meet society's growing needs, the monastic brothers and sisters have organised more than 20 retreats each year, both inside and outside the monastery.

Large retreats such as the Family Retreat at the beginning of the year and in the Summer. The Holiday Retreat (for Asia-Pacific countries) and the Wake Up Retreat (for young people) always attract more than 500 participants each. With such continuous growth, the monastery’s facilities can no longer adequately meet everyone’s needs. Currently, we face difficulties organising retreats and events with more than 300 people due to a lack of space. The existing meditation hall can only accommodate retreats with fewer than 200 practitioners. For larger retreats, we have to temporarily use the dining area as a Dharma Hall and for other activities, which causes significant inconvenience.

Dear friends, aware of these difficulties and with the aspiration to provide everyone who comes to the monastery with a more suitable place for practice, Thai Plum Village Sangha has initiated a project to build an official meditation hall with a capacity of 800 people, with a budget of 40 million Thai Baht.

The Sangha respectfully invites the support and contributions of you near and far to help bring this project to fruition. Dear friends, every little bit adds up to something great; any contribution, no matter how small, is a helping hand in bringing our meditation hall to life. We can make offerings per square metre. The estimated cost to build one square metre of the hall is about 20,000 Thai Baht. Each person may choose to sponsor one or two square metres, or two, three metres, or even ten people can join together to contribute towards one square metre. This way, everyone has the chance to participate and support this shared project.
